“Go ahead…just fib a little” is what I heard you could do with your acting resume. When I first started acting everyone said it was totally fine to lie on my resume! I thought well if everyone does it then it must not be a big deal! WRONG! To be completely honest I really didn’t have many special skills to put on my resume so I doctored it up so that I didn’t come off lame not playing any sports, dancing, singing or anything else that I thought would impress people. Well I learned my lesson the hard way! I went in to audition for a role that required me to be a cheerleader. In the past having this on my resume proved to be quite beneficial and even helped me land a couple roles. For this particular audition, they asked for my past experience cheerleading when I read for the role… and I had it listed as a skill so I felt the need to keep up the lie! I told them I did it in high school and that I loved it! Of course…first call turns into callback and… callback turned into a booking!
Fast forward- get to set completely pumped to be working. I read my scene and realize they want me in a cheerleading sequence!!! OH NO! I have two left feet and they want me to dance AND be at the top of the pyramid! I had a panic attack! I had to pretend I was having a back problems. It was awful! My one little white lie turned into many white lies that turned into me being cut out of the scene. Total Disaster! DO NOT lie on your resume! Olivia

You know what is fantastic about having a child in the business? They learn the rules of LIFE at an early age. No matter where you are one should NEVER lie about what experience/qualifications they have; it will come back to bite you as with Olivia and everyone should learn from her hard knox experience.
