Holly Sorensen, creator and executive producer of “Make It or Break It,” has inside info about who’s back … .
She also tells us how they write the show, and what happens behind the scenes during production. Read on for all the deets.
Holly: “I cannot believe we’re finishing our second episode, and rounding into the third! Chris Grismer, one of our favorite directors, is shooting the first National Team practice. It’s a nerve-wracking one for Kaylie, Lauren, and Emily — all for their own reasons. Of course it is always fun to have Kelly Parker back! Just because she’s on the same team as our girls doesn’t mean she’s dropped the ‘tude. (Thank goodness!)
“David Paymer is also here. He’s directing the third episode. (He directed the fashion show episode last year. I loved that one.)
“We start every episode the same way. After coming up with the story for the episode — we call it “breaking” an episode — the writer writes it, we tweak it, and . Then, the director comes in, and the first thing we do is sit down with all the department heads: the people who build the sets and decorate them; the people who deal with our cars and transportation; our props; our clothes; our doubles; our gymnastics and stunts — the whole team. We go through the script so we’re all on the same page.
“Then we have a table read, where the whole cast comes in and reads the script around a table so we can get a feel for how it’s flowing. We do a final production meeting to make sure we’re ready to go, and then we’re off! The first people on the set are makeup, hair, costumes, and the actors in the first scene! They can be here as early as five in the morning! Josie Loren was the earliest one in this morning — she still looked beautiful, of course.”
Natch!
