This is so common, not only with children but with all actors. If your son loves acting when he’s in class or at home, then he probaly has a passion for it. The passion that comes when an actor loves to act is very different than auditioning. Auditions can make one feel like they are been tested so it can put an extra pressure on.
I recommend you enroll you son in an audition technique class that is specifically training for the audition process. Getting invovled in school plays can also build confidence. The actually act of acting andĀ the act of auditioningĀ are two completely different skills that need to be developed and often separately. The only way do this is through experience. Good Luck.
