What should my child wear to their audition? This is a question we get asked all the time! Being an actress myself, I know it can be very stressful when there are so many other things on your mind and the last thing you want to do is worry about WHAT TO WEAR -AHHH!! With kids it’s very simple. Here are a couple tips that will help alleviate the stress. ![]()
No black, white, gray, stripes or logos! Nothing too big or sloppy. No jewelry. Kids must dress age appropriate. So girls…no spaghetti strapped tank tops. No hair in the face!! I can’t tell you enough what a huge pet peeve this is for casting directors and agents! BUT don’t put it up with ribbons and hair ties and all that fun stuff kids like to put in their hair. It just becomes too distracting! Remember they want to see their beautiful faces.
So what CAN you wear? Solid tops in bright colors with jeans, khakis or a denim skirt. Polo shirts are great for boys or solid tees. Girls can wear layered tees, hoodies, or any top that isn’t too fitted. Usually the kids will be put on tape so the bright colors will make them “pop” on camera. Gap and Old Navy are great places to shop for basics.
Next time you get stressed about what to wear… Give it a K.I.S.S (KEEP IT SIMPLE SILLY
