Booking out is extremely important to the agents. It is imperative that you book out when you are going on a trip and that you do it as soon as you plan the trip.
You should know in advance that when you book out for let’s say…Wed-Sun, you technically should book out at least by the prior Monday, if not earlier. Your agent probably will need to submit you on Monday (or even the prior week) for auditions that may take place Wed-Sun. Then your agent may not submit you again for roles til you get back from the trip since at times casting calls for same day auditions. This is why you don’t get auditions for two weeks sometimes even though you only went out of town for 4 days. The turn around of the appointments can really vary so when your agent starts submitting you again Monday, when you are back from the trip, the actual calls may not come til the end of the week or even the following week. This is just how it works. Sorry.
I highly advise you to continue to book out even though it may take a few weeks away from you. There is nothing more frustrating to agents AND casting directors than to call actors in who are not available due to not booking out. Good Luck. Lorena
