This is something you will need to discuss with the agent and/or manager. I personally don’t think it is necessary to change a child’s name. It can be confusing when an actor has a name that doesn’t go with their look. But hey- there are tons of actors who have reached tremendous success not trying to become something they are not. Take for instance Cameron Diaz, she happens to be one of the most successful actors around. She has blond hair, blue eyes, and couldn’t come off more caucasian! Also Joanna Garcia (who played the daughter on “Reba”) has had a fantastic career only playing caucasian roles and never changing her name.
This is something that is totally up to you… I don’t think it is necessary though. When your child is first starting out, they will be submitted by their headshot and resume. The casting directors will call your child in for the role that they are appropriate for based on their looks, regardless of last name. Olivia
