“My first job was draining and my backside was the star.”
Backstagemom sits down with the lovely and talented Rachel Bilson. Rachel is best know for her breakout role of Summer Roberts on the TV sensation, “The OC”. You may also recognize her from hit films, ”The Last Kiss”, co-starring Zack Braff and “Jumper”, co- starring Hayden Christiansen. She will be seen next in the features “Waiting for Forever” and “New York, I Love You”. We are thrilled to have Rachel here, not only because we just adore her, but she happens to be a positive role model for young girls and a fashion icon!
BSM: What was the first job you ever booked and how old were you?
RB:The first job I ever booked was a commercial for the cereal Raisin
Bran Crunch. I think I was about 19 years old. I was so excited to
shoot the commercial, and when I showed up on set they told me that we
would all be dancing with our backs to the camera. So my first job was
physically draining and my backside was the star!
BSM: What was it that gave you the acting bug?
RB: I knew I wanted to be an actress when I got involved with the
theatre program at my high school. I loved playing characters and
performing for people so much, I knew I wanted to try acting as my
profession. I always thought it was so much fun pretending to be
someone else.
BSM: What is your funniest on-set memory?
RB: My funniest on set memory would have to be when I was given a dead
frog as as birthday present. It was a prank played on me by a co-star.
They thought it would be funny to put a dead frog, which was one of our
props, in one of my presents. I got home and opened the gift and
screamed at the top of my lungs!
BSM: Do you still get starstruck? If so, by who?
RB: I absolutely get star struck! I get all red and embarrassed to this
day. The most recent time it happened was when I met Adam Sandler. I
was stuttering my words and laughing nervously at everything he said,
even when he said “nice to meet you”. Boy was that embarrassing.
BSM: Who is your favorite tween sensation?
RB: My favorite tween sensation I guess would have to be Selena Gomez.
She just seems so cute and sweet.
BSM: Do you have any advice to kids getting into this business?
RB: My advice for kids getting into the business would be: have
fun, always know that nothing is personal and always be grateful for the
work that you get.
BSM: What is your favorite part of being an actor?
RB: My favorite thing about being an actor is getting to be a different
person and making people laugh.
BSM: What do you not like about it?
RB: I suppose I could do away with the invasion of privacy. Although, it
is the nature of the beast so you have to accept it for that reason. It
also means that you have succeeded in some way so it’s a weird thing.
BSM: Heard any good PG: 13 jokes lately?
RB: Heehee. okay here goes. What did the snail say when it rode on the
turtle’s back?……..WEEEEEEEEE
